Luanda – The Angolan Government expressed concern at the situation in Guinea Conakry and condemned the developments of September 28 this year, when several people were killed.

This is contained in a statement that reached Angop in which the Angolan Government mentions the international law and condemns the use of violence to solve internal problems.

 
The Angolan Government appeals for a rational and pragmatic dialogue as the most appropriate way towards negotiations between the military junta, the political parties and organisations of the civil society, with a view to the definition of a period of realistic political transition, with security and stability.

 
According to the statement, this transition must be effective under the authority of the Head of State, for an inclusive Government of National Unity that guarantees the protection of the citizens and their rights and freedoms and creates the conditions for the holding of multi-party, free, fair and transparent elections, with a view to securing the politico-constitutional normalisation and establishment of the lawful and democratic state.
 

On the other hand, the Government of Angola encourages the Economic Community of West African States to continue with its mediation efforts in Guinea Conakry, with a view to a solution to the crisis.
