Luanda - The Prime Minister of Zimbabwe, Morgan Tsvangirai, ended on Friday afternoon his visit of just over five hours to Angola, above all aimed to consult the Angolan President, José Eduardo dos Santos, and other local authorities, on the current situation in his country, marked by a political crisis.
In the audience he granted, the Angolan Head of State expressed his concern about the current situation in that country, having assured that he will make all efforts to help restore stability to the government of Zimbabwe, as well as consolidate the understandings reached after the electoral crisis.
Before he leaves, the Zimbabwean Premier, who held a courtesy meeting with his Angolan counterpart, received farewell greetings from Prime Minister António Paulo Kassoma, who was accompanied by the Angolan Foreign Affairs minister, Assunção dos Anjos, and officials of Zimbabwe’s diplomatic mission to Angola.
Zimbabwe is experiencing a climate of political instability after Morgan Tsvangirai and all his ministers and deputy ministers from his party (MDC) boycotted on Monday (19 Oct.) a meeting of the Cabinet Council of the National Unity Government, in protest against the recent detention of a prominent politician of the MDC.
For the same reason, the Zimbabwean politician has been to Mozambique and South Africa, where he met with President Armando Guebuza, who chairs the SADC troika, and the Head of State of South Africa, Jacob Zuma.
Angola and Zimbabwe cooperate more on bilateral level as well as within the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC).
