Deputy Parliament speaker, Unicef director analyse children situation

Luanda – The vice speaker of the National Assembly, João Lourenço, received Friday, the newly appointed regional director of the United Nations Children Fund (Unicef), the Senegalese Elhadj As Sy, with whom he discussed issues related to protection of children in Angola.


‘’We had the opportunity to be received by the vice speaker of the National Assembly, with whom we analysed the role that parliaments should play in the protection of needy children,'' said Elhadj As Sy to the press after the meeting.
 

The official of the regional organization recognised the efforts that the Angolan government institutions have undertaken towards the improvement of living conditions of children.

 
He said that he had obtained the personal commitment of his interlocutor to become the champion of protecting the rights of children in Angola.
