Luanda
Senior military officers of Angola, Cuba, South Africa meet

Luanda- Issues of cooperation among the Armed Forces of Angola (FAA), South Africa and Cuba were reviewed Friday in Luanda during a meeting that gathered the three high ranking military officers from the respective countries.

During the meeting, the chiefs of staff of FAA, gen. Francisco Furtado, of South Africa Defence, Godfrey Ngwenya, and Cuban gen. Cintra Fria, also discussed political, economic and social issues, as well as analysed  the international situation.

At the end of the audience, gen. Furtado said the moment served for a share of views regarding existing cooperation among the three armed forces and ways for its reinforcement.

Meanwhile, the South African general said that the meeting reviewed matters concerning the three parties, particularly those resulting from the Cold War period.

In his turn, the gen. Cintra Fria considered as historical the audience, after 30 years spent together, when Cuba had sent troops to defend the Angolan territory from foreign invasions.

The South African officer has been in Angola since Tuesday, as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation, while the Cuban general  represented his country's Communist Party at the 6th Congress of the ruling MPLA party.
