Luanda – The Angolan Cabinet Council Friday in Luanda approved the Project on Institutional Development of the Waters Sector and authorised the signing of loan accords between Angola and the Association for International Development, to fund the said
project.
The project that will be implemented until June 30, 2016, is meant for the rehabilitation of the national hydrometric system and rehabilitation and expansion of the water distribution networks in the cities of Malanje, M’banza Kongo, Menongue, N’dalatando, Huambo, Kuito, Lubango, Luena and Uige.
On the other hand, the Government also approved a decision that entails the State to transitionally take responsibility in paying indemnities for accidents involving the Angolan Airline (TAAG), whenever the amounts involved go beyond the power of participation of the insurance company (ENSA).
The Government at the same session created the National Designated Authority and approved its regulation, taking into account the commitments taken by the Angolan State within the Kyoto Protocol.
The National Designated Authority, under the Ministry of Environment, is tasked with, among other duties, to check the emission of greenhouse gases and clearing of carbon dioxide.
In view of the commitments taken within the Kyoto Protocol, the Government approved the Angola’s Bio-fuels Development Strategy, with the purpose of researching, promoting, developing and increasing the use of new and renewable energies.
The Cabinet also authorised the establishment of the Standard Bank Angola S.A, that will operate as Angolan universal bank in the sectors of retail and investment.
As to international cooperation, the Government approved the general accords of economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation between Angola, Chile and Paraguay.
The Cabinet Council also approved the Cooperation Protocol complementary to the deal on cooperation between the Governments of Angola and Cuba and authorised the setting up of a bilateral commission with the Government of Chile.
