Luanda - The president of the ruling MPLA party, José Eduardo dos Santos, recommended this Saturday the carrying out of a "deep study" to encourage the drop of prices and increase the buying power of salaries.
José Eduardo dos Santos was speaking during the opening ceremony of the 15th ordinary session of MPLA's central committee that was summoned to, among other issues, analyse documents to be submitted to the VI congress of the party to be held from December 07-10.
By analysing the performance of the Angolan economy, the leader of MPLA, who is also the Head of State, observed the fact that in the country prices only rise and never drop.
He affirmed that, in spite of various proclamations of intention, the domestic production increases very slowly and the supply of goods is made with the increase of imports that have already reached 80 percent of what the country needs.
He referred that more products are bought in Brazil that in Angola with the same amount of money.
"How do we make prices drop? How do we significantly increase the domestic production?", he questioned himself, having called for the need to find the right answers to these questions.
"By only increasing salaries, as it has been said, is not enough in my opinion", he emphasized.
"We have to deepen the study of the situation in order to cause the drop of prices and icnrease the buying power of salaries", José Eduardo dos Santos declared.
