Rome – The Angolan prime minister, António Paulo Kassoma, has already left Rome (Italy) on his way back home, after representing the Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, at the World Summit on Food Security.
Under the aegis of the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the summit focussed on the urgent need for taking measures to eradicate hunger and poverty which is affecting developing countries.
It was an occasion for Angola to present outlined strategies to combat hunger and poverty, as well as reaffirming Angola’s commitment to host FAO’s 26th regional conference for Africa, in May 2010.
On the sidelines of this event, António Paulo Kassoma handed over a message from President José Eduardo dos Santos to the executive secretary of the World Food Programme (WFP), Josette Sheeran.
The Angolan premier also met with the president of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Kanayo Nwanze.
IFAD will grant USD 50 million to the country in the next triennium.
