Sharm el Sheikh – The Angolan Planning minister, Ana Dias Lourenço, last Sunday in Sharm el Sheikh region, in Egypt, said that the China-Africa co-operation forum has become an example of organisation, in the ambit of the south-south co-operation.
Ana Dias Lourenço defended this position when delivering a speech at the plenary session of the 4th meeting of the Sino-African Co-operation Forum, which kicked off last Saturday.
The gathering has on agenda the assessment of the results of the programmes outlined in the 3rd meeting that took place in Beijing, China, as well as putting into perspective the next three years.
She added that this model of co-operation is different simply because China bases its relationship with Africa on seven principles namely the equality between the partners, mutual benefits, respect for sovereignty, disinterested donations, strengthening the beneficiary, respect for the commitments and equality in dealing with exportations.
Ana Dias Lourenço also stressed that the presence of a top Chinese representative at the meeting is a proof of the affirmation of the continent and that the south-south co-operation is a privileged forum for Africa.
“We must not forget that the attention paid to agriculture by China’s development strategy is one of the greatest lessons to learn from the successful experience of that country, which can be used in Africa” she emphasised.
According to the Angolan government official, with its vigorous growth in the last three decades, the Chinese experience is today a model of successful integration into globalisation.
