Angola
Reverend considers disarmament campaign results visible

Luanda - The secretary-general of the Angolan Christian Churches Council (CICA), rev. Luís Nguimbi, acknowledged the fruits of the process of disarming civilian citizens in illegal possession of firearms, since people are already moving about with greater security.

Speaking to ANGOP, the cleric said that the campaign has enabled the collection of a high number of weapons.

To Luís Nguimbi, there is a need for media organs to intensify the message, so that those who still have a gun at home can feel encouraged to hand it to the authorities voluntarily.

In sequence of the disarmament process of civilian population, a national commission has been set up, that works with the objective of reducing and controlling the proliferation of firearms.
