Luanda – The Angolan Government submitted Tuesday in Luanda to the National Assembly (Parliament) the National Plan for 2010/2011 and the 2010 Draft Budget for analysis and approval.
The two documents were handed in Tuesday morning to the acting speaker of the National Assembly, João Gonsalves Lourenço, by an economic team comprising the ministers of Economy, Manuel Júnior, Planning, Ana Dias Lourenço, and Finance, Severin de Morais.
Speaking to the press, the minister of Economy said that those are the key documents for the country's management, envisaging a total revenue of about US 30 billion.
He stated that the draft submitted to Parliament makes provisions for more than 30 percent of the budget for the social sector.
Manuel Júnior mentioned economic growth, rehabilitation and construction of infrastructures, Supply of jobs and State reform, as the main priorities for the National Plan for the 2010/2011 period, aimed at building up the country’s institutional capacity.
He stated that for 2010, the country expects a global economic growth of 8,2 percent, secured mainly by the non-oil sector.
According to the official, the oil sector is expected to grow only 1,1 percent, while the non-oil sector will reach 15 percent.
"We have been witnessing a significant change in the Angolan economic structure, in which the oil sector ceases the impact it had previously on the Gross Domestic Product", he added.
The minister said this is positive as, he added, this shows that the Angolan economy is getting diversified, with the sectors of agriculture, manufacturing industry and commercial services playing a more significant role.
