Benguela elects ruling party first secretary

 

Benguela – The ruling MPLA party Saturday in central Benguela province alected Armando da Cruz Neto its first local secretary, during the organisation's 10th conference.


Armando da Cruz was elected with 437 votes in favour, 20 against and six abstentions, and is replacing Jeremias Dumbo, who led the ruling party in Benguela province during six years.


During the conference, which counted on the presence of the coordinator of central Government follow-up team for Benguela province, Norberto dos Santos “Kwata Kanaua”, the participants also elected 115 permanent members for the provincial committee of the party, 41 of which are women and 16 substitutes.


At least 105 delegates to the 6th congress of the party were selected, including five pre-candidates to the Central Committee of the ruling party and one substitute.


On the occasion, the new first provincial secretary stated that he intends to make all efforts  to deserve the mandate.
