Luanda – The Angolan Government approved, for ratification, the changes to the statutes of the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community (CPLP).
The information is contained in the edition of 12 June, I series 108, of the State gazette that reached Angop.
According to the document, the Government considers it relevant to create the CPLP’s Parliamentary Assembly, intended to strengthen the representativeness of the organisation.
It also decided to adopt the new wording for the article eight of the statutes, introduce a new article 15 called “CPLP Parliamentary Assembly” and correct the numbering of subsequent articles.
In its article eight, the diploma defines as CPLP managing and executive organs of the conference the heads of State and government, the Cabinet Council, the Permanent Concert Committee and the Secretariat.
Regarding point two, the diploma states that the CPLP Parliamentary Assembly is an organ that gathers the national parliaments of the member countries.
The point three also adds that the CPLP has as its organs the Meetings of the Focal Points of Cooperation and Ministerial Meetings.
On the other hand, the point four states that in the implementation of its goals, the CPLP resorts to mechanisms of political and diplomatic concert and the existing cooperation bodies and others to be created within CPLP’s member countries.
The article 15, entitled “CPLP Parliamentary Assembly”, the diploma indicates that the institution is an organ that gathers representatives from all parliaments of the community, formed on the basis of the results of the legislative elections of the respective countries.
