Luanda - The provincial governor of Luanda, Francisca do Espírito Santo, defended on Thursday here the need for more diffusion and information to citizens about the existing cultural heritage in Luanda.
Speaking to the press after the signing of the memorandum on the “The protection of cultural heritage” related to historic zones of Luanda, Francisca do Espírito Santo said that in many cases the cultural heritage is not made known.
The signing of the memorandum between the government of Luanda and the Ministry of Culture aims at calling for the valorisation of local heritage and delimit a zone of the city which is protected, she said.
According to her, in this protected zone of the city any intervention in the field of civil engineering must take into consideration some parameters that were defined in the memorandum, so that it may effectively be possible to conserve and valorise this cultural heritage.
The government of Luanda and the Ministry of Culture have created mechanisms to supervise and follow up the interventions in the city's downtown area, so that the memorandum may be honoured and activate the mechanisms to accomplish the municipal posture, the governor said.
