LUANDA
Euphoria at Marginal attracts over 20,000 folks

Luanda – Luanda’s Marginal avenue witnessed on Tuesday the opening of the competition of 12 class A carnival groups, in an event that attracted more than 20.000 enthusiasts, with their secret and sudden steps of samba and kazukuta styles dance, in a five-hour parade, closed by three animation bands.

From the competition parade, highlights go to the groups of Unidos do Caxinde and União Operário Kabocomeu.

In this 31st edition of the carnival, a homage was paid to Uniao Mundo da Ilha group, the top winning band of the Angolan carnival’s history, that was for that reason spared from the competing parade.

União Nova Geração do Mar from Samba district paraded with samba dance style.

The traditional carnival group of União Operário Kabocomeu was the 2nd to parade with 220 members grouped in four sections with kabetula style dance.

The 3rd group to parade was União Angola Independente from Kilamba Kiaxi with samba style. This is their 30th participation.

União Povo da Samba was the 4th group to parade.

The traditional carnival group União Kiela from Sambizanga, which has already won four editions of the carnival, was 5th to parade with samba.

The parade went on with União Operário do Rangel, União Jovens da Cacimba and União 10 de Dezembro from Rangel and Maianga districts, respectively, with samba dance style.

The traditional carnival group of União 54, from Maianga district, also paraded with the samba dance style.

União Petrolífero and União Sagrada Esperança also paraded at Marginal avenue.

The parade was closed with the participation of the most expected carnival group of Unidos do Caxinde with Semba style of dance.
