Namibe – Scenographic representations of Angolan rock paintings are now contained in a book of the French archaeologist, Manuel Gutierrez.
Published on Thursday in Namibe city, the book entitled “Arte rupestre em Angola (rock paintings in Angola)”, according the owner, represents figures of the Tchitunduhulo-Opeleva and Tchitunduhulo-Mulume stations, in Virei district, containing rock paintings, most of them with geometric and animal configurations.
Other figures of rock paintings' sites of Macahama-Majole, Kenguelela-1, Vihulo-1 and 2, situated in Caraculo, 60 kilometres east of the capital of the south-west Namibe province, are also contained in the book.
The book was edited in collaboration with the French Embassy in Angola, the Angolan Ministry of Culture and the government of Namibe province.
The book was written in Portuguese and French languages. It has three chapters, the first one about historic subjects, the second on Namibe province and the third about the interpretation of figures.
