Luanda
Totó happy to participate in Jazz Festival

Luanda– Angolan singer Totó said Friday in Luanda he is a right Angolan figure to star in the 4th edition of the Luanda International Jazz Festival opening Friday until Sunday in the Angolan capital.

“I think so,” said the musician when asked at a press conference whether he deserved the invitation to participate in the event.

In his turn, fellow singer Coreón Dú, answered the same question saying he was not the right  person to say whether or not he deserved the participation. He referred the question to the organisation of the event.

Totó is set to appear Friday on Welvitshia stage as from 11:30 pm, while Coreón Dú is scheduled to perform on the closing day at 6:00 mp.

Totó stressed that jazz is nowadays more accepted by Angolan folks, adding that the Luanda Festival is giving a new boost to the interaction between local and foreign musicians.

He said he was happy to share the stage with such prominent names of the international music as Boyz II Men and saxophonist Manudibango. To him, the cameroonian is a “music school.”

On the other hand, Coreón Dú thanked for the invitation saying he will seize the occasion to present his “The Coréon Experiment”, that is a merger of various styles, particularly those showing a great influence of jazz and others, including local rhythms like Kilapanga and
Semba.
