Luanda
Children books on sale at Luanda's Independence Square

Luanda – Children books by Angolan and foreign authors are being sold as from this sunda at Luanda’s Independence Square, under the celebrations of African Children’s Day, marked on Saturday June 16.

In an initiative of “Texto Editoras” Publisher, the exhibition comprises books that help children to have the liking for reading.

Speaking to Angop, the coordinator of fairs and events of the referred publishers, Pedro Cristóvão, said that it is fundamental to encourage children to like reading and this why his institution has been promoting over the last 15 years sale exhibition of books.

Africa observes the Day of the African Child, in memory of thousands of black school children who were maimed and killed in the 1976 Soweto uprising, as they took to the streets to protest the inferior quality of their education and to demand their right to be taught in their own language.
