Lack of training hinders dance development

Lubango - The lack of training of instructors and choreographers with expertise in the field of dance, as well as the lack of incentives and shortages of critics are cited as causes of the decline in artistic standards in this discipline in the province of Huila.

The statement was Wednesday made to ANGOP by the head of the Department of Cultural Action of the Provincial Department of Culture, Pedro Mussunda, on the sideline of the Provincial Methodological Seminar on Dance, which started Tuesday in Lubango.

According to him, as a consequence of this lack, the dancers do not know the meaning and technical-scientific aspects of this art, leading several times the work on stage without the necessary study and preparation.

Pedro Mussunda considered important that the dancers and choreographers take full advantage of the materials that teachers will pass because it will allow to increase the level of promotion, research, study investigation and dances choreography in the socio-cultural context.

The seminar will end Saturday under World Dance Day to be marked next Sunday (April 29).
