Angola
Theatre group presents historical play

Luanda - The theatre group “Colectivo de artes 17 de Setembro” will  present this weekend in Kilamba Kiaxi District, in Luanda, the play entitled “4 de Fevereiro ontem e hoje”.

Speaking to ANGOP on Thursday, the group’s director, João Kassule, informed that the play portrays the history of Angolan nationalists who, in the early 1960’s, carried out an attack to

Luanda prisons to free people detained by the colonial authorities.

The director informs that the production of the play counted on the collaboration of some survivals of the 4 February 1961 uprising, as well as historians, in order not to distort what happened in that important day, which marked the beginning of liberation war.

João Kassule informed also that with this activity the group intends to honour heroes of the mentioned February 4 events, as well as show younger people the importance of the date in relation to the achievement of national independence.
