Culture Ministry recognises importance of book

Luanda – The Culture Deputy Minister, Cornélio Caley, reaffirmed on Monday in Luanda that the Ministry of Culture recognised the strategic importance of book, promotion of reading, CD and the expansion of the library network in the country.

The official said so to Angop, while addressing the opening ceremony of the International Music and Reading Fair that is happening from 22 to 28 August at Luanda’s Training Journalists Centre (CEFOJOR).

He said that it was recently approved “the Angolan Cultural Policy, mainly the National Policy for the Promotion of Book and Reading, documents covering their contents, structural contours and clear definition of objectives”.

The legal tools and regulations will contribute to the expansion of the scientific and literary skills to the Angolan population, by reversing the difficult access and cost of books.

The official secured the support of the Ministry of Culture for the implementation of the the National Policy for the Promotion of Book and Reading, encouragement to cultural agents, producers of CDs and books for the development of their actions.
