Caxito - The final stage of the Angolan folk music contest dubbed “Variante2011” will take place this Friday in Bengo Hotel, in Caxito City, and not in Tentaviva Museum as previously scheduled.
Speaking to ANGOP, the head of the cultural action department linked to the Provincial Culture Directorate, João Francisco, explained that the change of venue is due to the prediction of rain for this day, broadcast by the National Institute of meteorology and Geophysics (INAMET).
On his turn, the promoter and artistic director of Variante, Adão Filipe, said that all the technical conditions for holding the contest are now set, including lighting, sound and stage.
In this edition, each of the country’s eighteen provinces will have one representative participating in the contest, with the exception of the host (Bengo) that will gave two contestants.
As regards the prizes, Adão Filipe revealed that the winner will be awarded USD 10.000, and an additional prize of USD 20.000 that should be used for the artist to record a Cd, the second placed contestant will receive USD 5000 and the third one 3000 dollars.
