Luanda – The Angolan Writers Association (UEA) and Sol Bank signed on Wednesday in Luanda a literary co-operation agreement, aimed at supporting children’s literary competition dubbed “Quem me dera ser onda”.
Through this agreement, the annual competition will get at least USD 20.000 that Sol Bank will release for each edition of the event.
The literary prize is aimed at stimulating the habit for reading and writing in children aged 13 to 17, who attend public and private schools of the basic and high education system.
According to the secretary-general of UEA, António do Carmo Neto, the agreement testifies the contribution of the entrepreneurial sector in the development of culture, mainly the literary field, as the competition serves to pay homage to a great Angolan writer, Manuel Rui Monteiro.
On his turn, the CEO of Sol Bank, Coutinho Nobre Miguel, said that some fundamental aspects for the human progress is intellectual, cultural and social development, in view of this, Sol Bank decided to join this initiative of UEA, thus also recognising the deeds of a great Angolan writer.
The “Quem me dera ser onda” prize is aimed at encouraging the literary creativity of children and youths in the fiction poetry fields, in which the best writers are awarded a prize.
Each province will count on the participation of 15 competitors and the themes of compositions should portray “street children”.
