Luanda – The craftworks market, located in Luanda’s Benfica ward, is one the best examples of valorisation of Angolan culture, for exhibiting everyday works that represent each region of the country.

On an interview made by ANGOP at the venue, as part of a discussion on “Commercialization and Mechanisms for Exporting Art Works”, some artists who produce, exhibit and sell this work, said that the authorities should value the market for being part of Angolan culture.

Carlos Pelena, seller of artefacts for 12 years, stated that the “marked has been the biggest reference where valuable artefacts that represent various cultures of Angolan people are sold, such as the statuettes O Pensador and palanca negra gigante, among others”.

José João Zau, seller for the past 15 years, spoke about valuing the market, stressing that it is poorly divulged and urged the media to promote the venue so that it gain more credibility.
