Luanda
Theatre an instrument of artistic manifestation - Minister

Luanda – The Angolan Ministry of Culture (MINCULT) Saturday in Luanda considered theatre in Angola as a great instrument of political and artistic  manifestation, contributing to awaken the society about the country’s big causes since the struggle for independency.

In a message on the celebration of the World Day of Theatre, March 27, signed by incumbent minister, Rosa Cruz e Silva, MINCULT recognises theatre as being always present in the various phases of the country’s development.

“This March 27 is being celebrated in a particular moment of the country’s life, taking into account the need to strengthen the effort for national reconstruction, with artists of scenic arts taking the role of contributing to the construction and affirmation and angolanity, through the vehicle of representation, transmitting to the society ethical, moral and civic values”, reads the note.

The World Day of Theatre was proclaimed in 1961 by the International Institute of Theatre (ITI), with the inauguration of the Theatre of Nations, in Paris, France.
