UNAC pledges to defend artists' interests

Namibe – The Angolan singer, Cândido Ananás, said Thursday in southwestern Namibe province that the National Association of Artists and Composers (UNAC) in the region will focus its activity on promoting local artists and composers.

Speaking to Angop about his participation at UNAC’s general assembly that will take place on Saturday in central Benguela province, the singer said the association has arranged its structures in a way to assist musicians with their careers and members’ social life around the country.

According Cândido Ananás, who represents the province at UNAC‘s meeting, the
institutionalisation and the activity of the organisation in Namibe requires the rehabilitation of the premises provided by the Provincial Department of Culture.

He said there are 50 artists in Namibe province intending to join UNAC, with the purpose of helping defend the interests of the members of the association.
