Luanda – The chairman of the Angolan Writers Union (UEA), Carmo Neto, said Thursday here that the death of the nationalist and poet Alda Neves do Espírito Santo is a “great loss to the world of African literature, having into account the relevance of her books”.
Speaking to the press at the UEA’ headquarters, Carmo Neto also regretted the low distribution of the late writer’s works in the African Portuguese speaking countries.
According to the writer, the nationalist represents a role model that needs to be followed by African women and others worldwide.
Endorsing the same view, the chairman of Dr. Agostinho Neto Foundation, Maria Eugenia Neto, stresses on a message that Alda do Espírito Santo was “a very cheerful person who knew how to make everyone feel like brothers when close to her”.
Personalities like the ministers of Foreign Affairs, Media and Culture, respectively Assunção dos Anjos, Carolina Cerqueira and Rosa Cruz, as well as the governor of Luanda Province, Francisca do Espirito Santo, paid homage to the late nationalist.
