Luanda – The Angolan Culture minister, Rosa Cruz e Silva, paid a visit to a few carnival groups at Luanda’s Ingombota district, to assess their preparation for the 2010 edition of the yearly event to happen on February 14, 15 and 16.
The official, who was accompanied by Luanda deputy governor for Social Affairs, Juvelina Imperial, paid the visit to learn about the financial aid extended to them and check the garment and music of each group.
Rosa Cruz e Silva is holding this meeting with carnival groups until February 10, to also show her solidarity.
On Monday, the minister visited the groups União Mundo da Ilha and Unidos do Caxinde, while on Tuesday the official is visiting the Sambizanga district to meet with the groups União Kiela, União Operario Kabocomeu and União Kazukuta do Sambizanga.
On Wednesday, Rosa Cruz e Silva will visit the carnival groups União 10 de Dezembro, União Jovens da Cacimba and União 54.
At least 40 carnival groups from the categories A, B and C, representing various districts of Luanda, will parade on February 14, in the 32nd edition of the cultural event.
Among these groups, 14 groups are part of category A, 15 belong to class B and 11 groups are in children category.
