Luanda – The children’s literary collection “The anniversary of Asterix&Obelix – The Golden Book” is already available for Angolan readers, in an initiative of Media Nova Publisher and Leya.
The launching session of the collection, that gathered hundreds of child and adult readers, took place in Chá de Caxinde cultural centre, during a sale session of the book, traded at the value of 1, 800 kwanzas.
For the Angolan market, Leya and Media Nova made available the 32 books of the collection, and at the first phase only 250 copies of the collection.
For November and December, both institutions intend to make over 1,500 books.
A join-venture between Media Nova and the Publisher Leya from Portugal enabled Luanda to be one of the 20 capitals where the book will be simultaneously launched worldwide.
The special edition to commemorate the anniversary of Asterix and Obelix – the golden book, served to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the duet characters Asterix and Obelix.
It was in 1959 that René Gosciny who died in 1977 and Albert Uderzo, who is celebrating his 81st birthday this Friday, founded the cartoon.
The first stories were published on 29 October 1959 in the first number of weekly French magazine "Pilote" to fight against the invasion of American Cartoon.
