Luanda
International cinema festival to have new category

Luanda - The organising body of the Luanda International Cinema Festival (FICLUANDA) introduced this year, for the first time, a competition of locally-made movies, in order to boost cinematographic and national filmmakers.

This was announced Thursday, by FICLUANDA co-ordinator, Pedro Ramalhoso, during a press conference held at facilities of the Culture Ministry in Luanda.

According to him, ten movies, in a total of 20 registered, including short and feature films, were selected to compete for the prizes created by FICLUANDA 2009, having added that the competing works are from both amateur and professional producers.

With the creation of this new element, the festival is divided into two different groups, the movies competing in national category and those involved in non-national class.

Among others, the event, scheduled to take place next November 20 in “Atlantico” Cinema, will gather Zeze Gambôa, Albert Egbe, Anmdrew Amenechi, Dorothee Wenner, José Ribiro, Maria Margarida Cardoso, Poças Pascoal.

The festival, organised by the Culture Ministry, will also happen at “Nacional” cinema and at the “Pepetela” auditorium.
