Lubango - Angolan Culture minister, Rosa Cruz e Silva, on Saturday in Lubango City, southern Huila Province, defended the need for the training of staff in the various cultural subjects, so that it can be improved the quality of artistic works and boost the country’s cultural development.
The official said so after holding a meeting with staff from the provincial culture department, having underlined the need for training of intermediate and higher technicians, mainly in areas like historical archives, museums, natural history, plastic arts and music.
“After thirty years of armed conflict, the country almost lost its cultural identity (…), so, it is necessary to train specialty staff” she explained.
To him, the country has very few cadres to fill in certain posts and this scarcity is hinder the Culture Ministry from implementing several programmes.
In view of this, she announced that next year her institution will implement an academic and professional training programme, supported by UNESCO, whose beneficiaries will be staff from the Culture Ministry and artists.
During her three-day visit to Huila, which ended on Sunday, the minister checked several areas of her sector at that level and attended the final phase of the national popular music contest dubbed Variante2009.
