Moxico to gain higher education in 2010

Luena – Angola’s eastern Moxico province will gain higher education in 2010, according to the secretary of State for Higher Education, Adão do Nascimento, during his three days working visit to  Luena city.

According to Adão de Nascimento, courses such as education sciences and techno-professional courses of mechanical and civil engineering will be available among the future institution’s programmes.

He added that Angolan lecturers trained in various fields of science, with qualifications approved by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), will secure the running of the programmes.

He admitted that foreign lecturers might also be recruited to cover the deficit of qualified staff in some subjects.

The secretary of State for Higher Education revealed that the institution aims at offering scholarships this year to local lecturers for bachelor and masters degrees overseas.

The introduction of higher education in Moxico province follows a recommendation from the head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, within the framework of the strategy to expand the university network in the country.
