Luanda - People are urged to avoid acquiring books from informal market with a view to discouraging the illegal sale of school textbooks.

The information was released Friday in Luanda by the vice minister of Education Ana Paula Inglês.

The official told ANGOP that the books are distributed free of charge.

According to her, the population should cooperate by avoiding such practices, otherwise this can undermine the ongoing efforts intended to promote fair distribution of textbooks in the schools countrywide, especially in primary education.

Asked about the ongoing government actions to curb such practices, the official said that there is a multisectoral committee involving the Ministry of the Interior, Economic Police, district administrations and others.

The Ministry of Education made available 37 million textbooks for 2012.
