Luanda – A total of 130 graduates in various specialties are annually attending post-graduation master programmes in Brazilian universities, under a cooperation agreement between educational institutions from both countries.

The information was released on Tuesday by the Brazilian ambassador to Angola, Lucy Petersen, who was speaking to Angop on the occasion of the 188th anniversary of the independency of her country, on September 7.

Lucy Petersen said that as part of existing exchange between the two countries, over the past two years, 270 students have been selected to attend training in Brazilian institutions of higher education.

According to the source, there is also an agreement to train teachers of high institutes of Angola in Brazil, in addition to a project for upgrading of technical staff from others public workers designed by the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC).

The cooperation between the two countries, said the diplomat, includes the health sector, with highlight to the Angola/Brazil/Japan project enabling the training of physicians working on patients suffering from sickle-cell anaemia.

Lucy Petersen added that both countries are also cooperating on a programme of prevention of malaria and HIV/AIDS.
