Luanda – The Angolan minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Maria Cândida Teixeira, Thursday in Luanda appealed to managers of Higher Institutes of Education Sciences (ISCED) to create of centres of excellence in their academic regions.
Cândida Teixeira was addressing the swearing-in of directors of ISCEDs, higher pedagogic schools and workers of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCT).
According to the official, the centres of excellence will help reach high performances in science and technology, creation of human, infrastructural and techno-scientific capacities, with a view to solutions that lead to development of a society of knowledge.
To the minister, it is urgent that higher education institutions, either public or private, foment scientific and technological research in various spheres of knowledge and academic levels.
The managers of above mentioned institutions, she added, must provide the teachers, workers and students with facilities that enable them gradually reach a desired education quality and fight all negative practises that damage the good name of the Higher Education institutions.
The ceremony of swearing-in of the directors general of the ISCEDs of Luanda, Huambo and Uíge, and of the Higher Pedagogic Institutes of Kwanza Sul, Bengo, Bié and Kwanza Norte provinces, was witnessed by the secretary of State for Higher Education, Adao do Nascimento.
