Havana – The Angolan minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Maria Cândida Teixeira, said in Havana (Cuba) that is sector is working to consolidate the vision and development strategy approved by the Cabinet Council, Angop learned.
Speaking at the opening of the first meeting of Angolan and Cuban university chancellors, she said the meeting served for the dissemination of the said strategy and receive contributions for its enrichment.
The minister highlighted the fact of the Government approved in 2006, the document that guides the higher education system in the country.
According to her, the document reflects the main challenges encountered in the education sub-system, having highlighted the creation of seven academic regions in the country, in response to four main vectors guiding the sub-system.
Maria Cãndida Celeste also said that the education quality is a challenge that depends much on the Angolan Government and the incumbent ministry himself.
She also spoke of the need for accomplishment of guidance released by the head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, according to which people must work more and more for a better quality of the country’s higher education system and reinforcement of scientific research, with highlight to applied research, associated with the national economy’s development strategy.
During the meeting, the participants analysed the 50 years of the Cuban revolutionary education experience.
