Luanda - The minister of Higher Education and Science and Technology, Maria Candida Teixeira, on Friday here said one of the main goals of the universities is training competent cadres, in order to successfully guarantee the labour market and practice of a
responsible citizenship.
Candida Teixeira voiced so while opening the 2010 academic year that will take place under the motto "For a quality higher teaching towards the country's service''.
In her opinion, the achievement of these challenges depends on a progressive change of harmful practices to pedagogical and deontological precepts that generally are represented in high rates of drop out and failure.
According to her, the novelty for this academic year is the accomplishment of a guidance by the President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos, represented by the creation of universities in each province, being currently a fact to promote their development.
Other novelty, according to her, is the progressive implementation of a set of legal diplomas that confirm the new juridical basis of the higher teaching, that will enable these public and private institutions elaborate the plans of action, under the transition and institutional
development.
The minister said these criterions give privilege to opening of technical courses linked to the areas of sciences, those ones important for the national economy, in order to promote a harmony and equilibrium of nature and diversity of the courses at national level.
