Ondjiva – The 2010/2011 academic year at Higher Polytechnic School of Ondjiva, southern Cunene province, opened officially on Saturday, during a ceremony chaired by local governor, António Didalelwa.
On the occasion, António Didalelwa said the opening of the academic year is the reaffirmation of the will and determination of the Government, teachers and students to implement policies to improve and expand higher education in the country.
The governor underlined that his office will continue working in the support for the higher education institution, in order to secure its best functioning and full performance of teachers and students.
António Didalelwa advised the newly admitted students to engage in research, with a view to good results and better contribute to the country’s development.
On the other hand, the deputy chancellor for scientific affairs of Mandume Ya Ndemufayo University, José Luís Mateus, thanked Cunene Government for the engagement in creating conditions for one more academic year.
This is the second academic year in the province, with courses of Biology, Agronomy, Nursing and Laboratory. A total of 319 students are attending lessons.
The ceremony of opening of the academic year in the school in respect was attended by members of Cunene Government, district and commune administrators, church officials, traditional authorities, students, teachers and other guests.
