Governor urges population to join literacy programme

Saurimo - The governor of the eastern Lunda Sul Province, Candida Narciso, on Monday called on citizens and social partners to promote  and join the literacy programme, aiming for the country’s development.

Candida Narciso made this appeal while addressing the opening ceremony of 2010 academic year, held in Muriege village, in Muconda District.

“I urge all people who need to go to school, parents and children’s guardians to flock to schools, and to the education sector’s officials to adopt mechanisms which contribute towards the improvement of educational services at all levels” said the governor.

According to Candida Narciso, the government is making all efforts to build and equip more schools, by handing out school material free of charge, as well as upgrading more teachers to allow that more children go to school and the reduction of illiteracy among young people and adults.
