Lubango – The director of the department of education, science and technology in southern Huíla province, Américo Chicote, appealed on Monday in Lubango to teachers to discuss, in a systematic and exemplary way, issues related to the preservation of environment in their lessons.
The official was speaking during the official opening of the workshop on teachers training directed to 40 participants, in the ambit of the infant and juvenile environment conferences implemented by the Ministry of Education together with the National Education Research Institute (INIDE).
He said that the Ministry of Education in cooperation with the environment sector and the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community (CPLP), have been holding infant and juvenile environment conferences, aimed at involving teachers and secondary students and the civil society in the causes of the planet.
The director defended the need for teachers to interact with the students about the global warming and environment problem.
He exhorted the participants to learn more about the methodologies to be taught in the workshop, so as to educate and train the new generations on climate changes.
The three-day workshop, which is happening under the motto “Let’s take care of Angola and the Planet”, will discuss issues related to global climate measures, causes and effects, environment situation, water, electricity and others.
The first seminar of its kind in Huíla province will be attended by teachers, students and members of the civil society in general.
