L Aquila - Trade between Angola and Italy may reach one billion US Dollars by 2010, Angop learned in L'Aquila, the scene of the G-8 summit, to be attended by Angolan president, Jose Eduardo dos Santos, as "Guest of Honour" of italian prime-minister, Silvio Berlusconi, the chairman of the conference.    

According to a paper distributed here,  trade between the two countries reached USD 380 million in 2008. This is 45 percent more as compared to the previous year. 
 

Angola imported from Italy foodstuffs, clothes, machinery and furniture and exported oil, marble and furs.

Meanwhile, the italian ENI and Angolan SONANGOL oil companies signed in 2008 a 20 year agreement for the participation of the former in gas prospecting and production in Angola's northern Zaire province's both onshore and offshore.

 This direct investment of the italian company in Angola expects the construction of a gas power plant and a new oil-related training centre, while another 22 italian companies working in the country include "Inter Inalca" and "Intermarket", which have invested USD 10 and five million respectively since 2008.
