Luanda – The Angolan minister of Geology, Mining and Industry, Joaquim David, Tuesday in Luanda inaugurated a Nestle food processing and confectionary plant - "Tofa Produtos Alimentares e de Confeitaria Limitada ".
The food manufacturing plant that includes a warehouse, workshops and production and technical areas belongs to Nestlé Angola Lda., under a partnership between Angolan Government and Star Motors, in an investment of about Akz 16 million (one Usd is Akz 100).
In the first phase, the plant is expected to produce Nido powder milk in assorted container sizes. Other Nestle products such as Nescafé and Nesquik also will be made in Angola in coming years.
The Nestlé Angola general manager, Wilbart de Wit said at the inauguration ceremony that the new venture will generate 50 jobs by the end of the first year of operation as well as provide training and transfer of knowledge to ensure that the unit can be managed safely and productively.
On the occasion, the Nestle S.A group representative, Paul Bulcke, said that "Nestlé will continue to be a growing partner in Angola", following the route of the country, which today is seen as one of the fastest growing economies both in Africa but in the world.
