US diplomat praises Lobito port

 

Lobito - The U.S. ambassador to Angola, Christopher McMullen, Friday considered Lobito Commercial Port, in southern Benguela province, an strategic undertaking for the southern Africa and help the rapid development of Angola and neighbouring States.

 

 
The US. diplomat who was speaking to the press at the end of his visit to Lobito Port, congratulated the Angolan authorities for the investments in modernization of the company.

 

 
"The Angolan authorities should be proud to have a structure like the Commercial Port of Lobito. For this reason you deserve congratulation," he concluded.

 

 
The American ambassador was informed on the ongoing projects, with emphasis on the construction of the terminal for loading and unloading of ore to be exported from the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo, bound  for the  European, American and Asian countries.

 

 
Christopher McMullen was also briefed on the length of the bridge pier and the creation of the dry port, which will be used to load and unload of containerized goods.

 

 
In his turn, the chairman of the directors of Port, Anapaz de Jesus Neto, who welcomed the presence of the US ambassador said that the visit served to look to possible cooperation between the Port of Lobito and ports based in United States of America.
