Malanje strides toward industrialisation

Malanje  -  Angola’s northern Malanje province has started to take strides toward industrialisation, seeking the development and creation of jobs.

This was said Thursday in the region by the minister of Geology, Mining and Industry, Joaquim David.

"Today we see with pleasure that in terms of industry the province is taking off,” said the official at the end of the inauguration of two factories.

According to the minister, the Government is aware of the constraints and needs facing the province in the domain of energy, transport, communication and water.

He stated that the Government has invested in a programme of re-activation of the textile industry, hence the reason for the inauguration of the two mattress plants.

Joaquim David also announced the opening of sawing plants he considered crucial for the country, in view of the amount of fabrics that will be manufactured in the region.

Large brick, tile and ceramics plants will also be built in the region, the official also announced, as an indication of the ambition of the province’s businesspeople and authorities concerning economic development.

The minister of Geology, Mining and Industry announced that the Government is also preparing a programme of creation of a technological institute to handle the computing problems facing the industry.
