Rain shortage hits harvest in Cunene

Ondjiva - Harvest in 2011/2012 season fell to 40.000 tons in the southern Cunene province, due to shortage of rains.


This was said to Angop on Thursday by the director of Agrarian Development Instituto (IDA), Porfírio Samaneulo.


In addition, the director said that it was expected to reach a harvest estimated at 72.000 tons, but due to shortage of rains only 30.000 tons will be possible to harvest.


Drought in the region, between September 2011 and February 2012 damaged many cultures.
