Govt defends timber sustainable exploration

Luanda - The Angolan government defends a sustainable exploration of timber, says the director general of the Forest Development Institute (IDF), Tomás Caetano.  

 

The source said that in this ambit the sector has developed a certain control on the activities of the timber works meant to guarantee protection of ecosystem.

 

"Everyone must be a supervisor of these resources", said Tomás Caetano, while commenting on the three cutting.

 

He said that the country produces 60.000 cubic metres of long timber yearly and the internal need is about 500.000.
