Lubango – The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, Afonso Pedro Canga, said on Wednesday in Matala district in the southern Huíla province that the A maize drying and storing agro-industrial complex will encourage the regulation of the cereals price in the market and generate new jobs in the region.
The official said so to the press after the inauguration of the referred complex in Matala district.
The minister said that these infrastructures will also serve to conserve the grain and enable the trading of the cereals, as well as boost the agro- industry in the district and in particular the southern region of Angola.
The complex is comprised of one maize drier and three silos for storage of maize with a capacity of 12,000 tonnes.
It includes a warehouse of 450 square metres, mechanised transport, water and electricity supplying stations and other facilities.
The project is part of three others funded by the Ministry of Agriculture in the provinces of Huíla, Bengo (north), Kwanza Norte (north) and Moxico (east).
