Namibe – The deputy governor of Namibe Province for economic matters, Alcides Cabral, last Tuesday assured that the production of marble in this region has reached a stable stage in terms of quality, contrary to previous years. Speaking to the press in the end of his visit to a stone-quarry in Karaculo locality, the deputy governor informed that there is a strong interest from entrepreneurs in promoting minerals production in this region.
In his opinion, there are other actions that could be taken in regard to the exploration of marble and its waste.
He regretted the fact that Namibe has no company that transforms marble, having suggested the need to create transforming industries, since they generate economic development.
Alcides Cabral explained that actually the authorities have licensed a few firms to explore marble and other types of minerals, but most of them are inoperative.
