Luanda - Angolan minister of Geology, Mining and Industry, Joaquim David, defended Tuesday the adoption of a coordinating mechanism between Angola and Russia to identifying new initiatives that lead to boosting economic and technical-scientific relations.
Joaquim David was speaking in the capacity of co-chairman of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, Technical- Scientific and Commercial Angola/Russia.
The minister considered immense the field of areas conducive to cooperation, having already identified the opportunities in the fields of Geology/Mining, Technological Education, Metallurgy, Communications, Energy and Heavy Equipment.
At the opening of the Second Session of the Intergovernmental Commission, held in Luanda, the Angolan official expressed satisfaction over dynamics of cooperation at the enterprise level through exchanges between the chambers of commerce and industry and creation of public-private partnerships.
The minister of Geology, Mining and Industry also said to be satisfactory the implementation of programmes to boost the institutional capacity and training of staff at all national sectors.
According to the official, the holding of the Second Session of the Intergovernmental Angola/Russia is the result of positive impetus of the visits paid by the President Jose Eduardo dos Santos to Russia (2006) and the Russian head of State, Dimitry Medvedev to Angola (2009).
The meeting, co-chaired by the Minister of Geology, Mines and Industry, Joaquim David of Angola and the Russian Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology Yuri Trutnev, was marked by the signing of the two deals.
The first agreement focussed on the higher education field while the second one was related to the implementation of previous understandings.
The first event of the kind took place in November 2005 in Russian capital, Moscow.
