Namibe – At least 21,745 tonnes of agricultural products were produced in the south-west province of Namibe, in 2011, against 23,175 tonnes of 2010.
The head of the provincial department of Agriculture Mateus Delgado, said that during the period in reference were produced 1,185 tonnes of corn, 3,141 tonnes of onions, 1,031 tonnes of cassava, 9,045 tonnes of tomato, 676 tonnes of potatoes.
In the year under review, he said, were cultivated 8,909 hectares, of which 5,650 hectares for vegetables, cereals, roots and tubercles.
The official said that in this period, the production has not reached the levels recommended due to rains which swept the province.
