Cape Town - The Angolan minister of Geology, Mining and Industry, Joaquim David, has said that prospecting implemented by South Africa's De Beers is a success.
Speaking after a meeting with the de Beers operation and prospecting executive manager, Charles Skinner, under the new mining code its staff is creating negotiations commission to deal with all these matters.
"We agreed that as soon as possible, before its prospecting phase, we can gather our negotiations commission with technicians and dealers of De Beers and prepare the new phase of their performance in Angola, that we hope be that one of exploration, in its concession area", he said.
On his turn, Charles Skinner said his firm is now facing a new framework in Angola, with the creation of the new mining code that is favourable for the foreign investors.
"As the new mining code was published in December, we are studying how we will advance to safeguard our rights with regard to concession that we have been investing in Angola's north-east area", he said.
Angola can be the greatest diamonds producer for its geological potential, he said.
De Beer has invested so far 150 million dollars, being that the total amount will be 180 million.
